The Concept

What is a Flex League?

A flex league gives you the structure of organized competition with the freedom to play on your own schedule.

Unlike traditional leagues with fixed match times, ABTL lets you and your opponent coordinate when to play. Each round gives you a window (typically 2 weeks) to complete your match. This flexibility makes it possible for busy professionals, parents, and anyone with a variable schedule to participate.

Typical Season Structure

  • Weeks 1-2 Round 1 - Contact opponent, schedule and play match
  • Weeks 3-4 Round 2 - New opponent assignment
  • Weeks 5-6 Round 3 - Continue play
  • ... Additional rounds throughout season
  • Final 8+ matches total per season

Pro Tips

Scheduling Best Practices

Reach Out Early

Contact your opponent as soon as you receive the schedule. Early contact gives you more options and reduces last-minute stress.

Offer Multiple Options

When proposing times, offer at least 3 different options including various days and times. Flexibility goes both ways!

Use Multiple Channels

If email doesn't work, try texting or calling. Sometimes messages get lost - persistence pays off.

Be Fair on Location

Take turns hosting or meet at a court convenient to both. Nobody should have to drive across town every match.

Have a Backup Plan

Weather happens! When scheduling, discuss a backup date or rain policy in case your match gets rained out.
